Step 4: Export

There are several export options
for your module. We would like to familiarise you with the most important export functionalities of eXeLearning.

eXeLearning oferst you two different ways of exporting your module into an eLearning format that is compliant with eLearning standards. This will assist you to integrate your content automatically into most Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Two XML-based standards are available to you:

  • SCORM 1.2 and
  • IMS Metadata
Both standards record the most important module information in a metadata file in XML format. Most eLearning platforms (LMS) are able to read these metadata files and sort your module into their database. During export, your module is packaged in form of a ZIP file, that carries all texts, images, attached files, multimedia elements, etc., as well as the XML catalogue file.

Important is also the function Export as Web Site. This function will export the wole module into a self-contained folder, which you can publish on a webserver or view locally. After export, you can view the output by opening the file index.html in the output folder. You can export your module as often as needed, but you will have to create a new folder for each output. Please delete old output folders to avoid confusion.

Please select "Export" to "Web Site" also when you want to hand out your module as a stand-alone version on CD-ROM. You might also want to create an autostart file (for example with your CD-ROM burning program) which will have to point to index.html in the output folder.
